Mission Completed: Another Valentine

As Valentine's Day is drawing closer, it was becoming more and more apparent that the "Because I Love You" card was probably not the best option to send to my 3 year-old nephew. Since I like to send my niece and nephew little surprise packages filled with holiday goodies, I really needed to come up with an illustration a bit more appropriate. This is what I've come up with for the little guy. He LOVES trains. I'm not sure about his feelings towards giraffes, though I'm sure they are more positive than not. I still need to come up with something for the niece. Gotta go fill up some more sketch book pages!

Mission Completed: Mini Paintings

Feline Friday: a studio companion

I spent the majority of the day yesterday working on some mini paintings. The desk in the studio is strategically placed next to the heating vent so I can stay cozy while working on projects. Mr. F decided to be my studio companion yesterday and took up residence on the vent, defeating the purpose of my desk placement. Happy Friday!

In the Studio: Minimize

I finally got around to clearing off my work desk in the studio. This has been long overdue. Last night I utilized my freshly cleaned desk by making a mess and a small army of mini paintings. This is the progress thus far. The brightly colored backgrounds patiently await the application of their subjects.

I'm still working out the kinks in the character sketches I posted a few weeks ago. The cat went through some minor changes. I've been working mainly on the face and a couple of expressions. He's still in rough condition, but is looking little more streamlined. Happy Friday!

Feline Friday: Because I Love You!

In time for Valentine's Day, I give you "Because I Love You!" This piece is inspired by the many "gifts" I have received from my little furry coworker. She means well, I think, but mostly the presents are a bit unpleasant. If only she could learn to bring me a cupcake or coffee instead of the usual rodent. At least I know she loves me, or I pretend that she does!

There are prints of this creepy yet adorable illustration in both the 8"x10" and 5"x7" sizes in my shop! There's even a note card of it for you to give to your sweetie for Valentine's Day! Feline Friday: Sketches

Well, I'm finally back from winter holidays! For my first post of the new year, I wanted to share some sketches for a project I've been working on. These are very early, preliminary character sketches for a story I've written. The characters will probably go through a few changes before they are solidified, but I like where they are headed thus far. These are the two main characters, and of course, one is cat. There will be many more characters to come in the near future! Happy Friday!
